Who is this qualification for?
This accredited qualification is for anyone who is likely to come into contact with hazardous substances within a variety of working environments including: manufacturing, cleaning, healthcare, transport, utilities and office environments. It gives learners the knowledge to recognise the risks associated with hazardous substances and how to control them. Subjects covered include laws relating to hazardous substances in the workplace, safe use of hazardous substances in the workplace and control precautions and procedures.
How long will it take me to achieve this qualification?
This qualification is usually achieved by taking a half-day course.
How is the qualification assessed?
The qualification is assessed through a 30-minute, 15-question, multiple-choice examination. Learners must achieve a score of at least 10 out of 15 in order to pass.
Learners achieving this qualification are able to progress to:
- HABC Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment (QCF)
- HABC Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (QCF)
